FAQ: Sound-Massage Sessions with Ginger
GOAL: fun or relaxation
Schedule single visits as needed. Sound-massage is a treat for the senses and a fantastic way to do something nice for yourself. This beautiful, meditative rest lets you hit the reset button, and will have you floating out the door, and on to your next adventure.
GOAL: wellness / personal development
Try a series of 3-10 full sessions. Sound-massage is nurturing and supportive, and can help you get from point A to point B in your health or life. We'll develop a plan to get you the gains you've been looking for, tracking progress along the way.
Is this the same as a Sound Healing?
I've moved away from using that word in recent years. These sessions provide deep relaxation, which in many cases does assist with the healing process, but healing is really a complex client-driven shift. If you can allow yourself to immerse in the sound and let go of expectations, you'll find that sound massage supports your efforts for healing in a holistic sense.
How does this compare to physical massage?
The term is translated from German "Klangmasage" but touch is not used in the Peter Hess® method. Many clients find it more relaxing than a hands-on massage. The sensations that are massage-like are caused only by the gentle sound vibrations.
I have a medical condition; can I receive Sound Massage?
We'll consult with doctors and other providers to customize our approach, ensuring optimal safety and comfort. Take a look at some of the health concerns we would like you to disclose.
Do I have to undress / do you have to touch me?
You stay fully clothed (we do request removal of shoes, belt, and some jewelry). Physical contact is not required, though in some states providers offer an optional tap before placing the singing bowl on the body.
How long will it take me to relax?
Usually within about 10 minutes, but in some cases it takes a few sessions to really let go. When you come regularly, you'll notice you relax more deeply and easily each time.
What's it like to be immersed in these sounds?
Soothing and cosmic. Surprisingly deep. Your mileage may vary, but clients frequently report peaceful feelings, rest, relief of pain or worry, freer movement, and feeling safe.
What if can't afford private sessions?
We're making sure everyone has access to relaxation with sound. Ask about group Listening Events, or apply for reduced-rate sessions. Time and venue availability is limited for reduced-fee work, but we'll arrange something for you.
Where can I find Sound Massage (near me)?
Relax With Sound is based in Maryland and sessions are offered by Ginger. We also love to refer our independant graduates and other providers around the world. The Peter Hess method is growing in the US, and you can request Training Seminars & Events in your area to help spread the word.
